Hello from Jana, Head of Velocitii Innovation

Hi everybody, my name is Jana and I'm an entrepreneur.

I didn't really realise I was an entrepreneur until about two years ago when a business that I built actually raised pre-seed investment and then VC investment. I built a business called MyArkeo and it's a mental fitness tracking app and it literally tracks your mental fitness. I'm super excited that it's going to be coming out in the next couple of months.

But COVID-19 did put a stop, or a pause, to the building of MyArkeo, and it opened up a bit more time for me - and that's when I met Michael and he introduced me to Velocitii Digital.

I knew nothing about government innovation at all, so I've been super psyched to learn about that. Michael offered me an opportunity which is literally my dream job, and that's to head up Innovation at Velocitii and basically build out an incubator where we take ideas that solve everyday problems and build them into startups, and then build them into businesses. So I literally have my perfect job, I've been looking for a job like this forever!

Working with Velocitii and the team, I was kind of apprehensive when I first started, just because of being a sole female founder and doing everything and running my own business, and then going and working in a team again, I was like "oh my god, am I going to be able to do that?"

Actually every human in Velocitii basically could run a business. It's like everyone empowers everyone, everyone excels at what they do, and everyone is super supportive and it's a really diverse team.

It's actually the first time I've ever been in a company where it's truly diverse, and everybody loves their job and everybody's good at their jobs and people just empower each other to get stuff done. Which is insanely cool and has actually given me a lot of inspiration and a lot of confidence to do what I would want to put into MyArkeo with teams and how I would run that. So I've learned a lot from that point of view.

I'm super excited about getting out the ideas and the startups that we're building with Velocitii at the moment. It's been a really exciting journey so far and I'm looking forward to the next few months to see what we can come up with and what we can get out to you guys.
